Day
01 : SORONG - ARRIVAL (D)
On arrival at Jefman airport of Sorong, transfer to
hotel and proceed city tour to visit the crocodile
breeding farm, local blacksmith and Difior Wall for
breathtaking sunset. Dinner at local restaurant where
the guide will brief you about the trip
Day
02 : SORONG - BATANTA ISLAND (BLD)
Aboard motorized boat for two and half hours (40 miles)
to Wailebet village - our host village during the
birding program. On boat to destination you will already
see some birds such as black nape tern, Bridlet tern,
Common Tern, Gull Billed tern, Common black headed gulf,
Eastern Reef Egret and Pomarine Jeager. Afternoon
program is to see one of the endemic of this area : The
red bird of paradise. Delicious meal will be served
en-route, overnight at guest house.
Day
03 : WAILEBET FULLDAY BIRDING (BLD)
We begin with very early hearty diet and a cup of
coffee, then with moderate walking we trek up to 3000
meters above sea level for one and a half hour (best to
start from 0500am) to get to the playground area of the
Wilson's bird of paradise. After taking the best
position, in a second you will be fascinated to witness
the spectacular performance by the Wilson's Bop. First
the male will prepare his displaying ground by tiding up
the arena, a job that includes clipping the leaves off
any intruding sapling. When all jobs done very well and
the arena looks very attractive to female, finally she
comes up. This will be a breathtaking moment to you.
Focus in your eyes and camera to see this most handsome
male comes in his last full sexual splendor, tail in a
hoop, wings in a cape and neck feathers in a complete
disc, ready to copulate the female. Today will not be
only closed by the appearance of the Wilson's BOP but
also by the Red BOP. Lunch, dinner and overnight.
Day 04 : WAILEBET - SALWATI - RORONG
Soon after breakfast, we take boat ride for twelve
minutes to cross to Salawati island to see the Red King
BOP, western crowned pigeon. From Salawati we persist
boating straight to Sorong, check in at hotel and take
minutes rest, before drive to Intipura Logging road for
afternoon birding to see at least 42 different birds
include the rare Black Bittern and Forest Bittern,
Moustache Tree-Swift and spotted whisling Duck. Dinner
and accommodation at hotel.
Day
05 : BIAK - DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the airport
leaving for your next destination.
